WaterTower Theatre Auditions: The Bridges of Madison County | In Concert

WaterTower Theatre invites local AEA and Non-AEA actors to audition for its production of The Bridges of Madison County, In Concert which will the final production of the 26th Season.

About the Show: Based on the best-selling novel, The Bridges of Madison County recalls the unexpected affair of Francesca Johnson, a devoted Italian-born housewife, and Robert Kincaid, a roving National Geographic photographer. Set amidst the cornfields of Iowa in 1965, this sweeping musical romance about the roads we travel and bridges we dare to cross brings to life four sensual, heart-stirring days that will alter Francesca and Robert’s lives forever. With a soaring score by Tony Award-winner, Jason Robert Brown, The Bridges of Madison Country is a touching and powerful story that will leave you breathless.

Per Actors Equity and publisher agreements no music or dialogue will be cut or altered for this in concert version of this production.

Must be willing to follow strict safety standards and agree to COVID testing which will be paid for by WTT. This production is approved under Actors’ Equity Fully Vaccinated Safety Standards.

All positions are paid. Equity SPT 6 (Small Professional Theatre) contracts available.

ROLES:

We encourage performers to submit for any roles they are interested in; genders listed are those of the character, not the performer.

Francesca- Italian woman, generous, luminous, and funny, now married to a farmer and living in Iowa. Age: 35 to 45

Richard "Bud" Johnson- Francesca's husband. An Iowa farmer, a good guy, diligent and dependable, but always exhausted and irritated that things haven't gotten easier. Age: 40 to 50

Robert Kincaid- A ruggedly handsome, worldly, visionary photographer. Age: 40 to 50

Marian- (typically also plays Chiara) Robert's former wife, a musician. Age: 30 to 45

Chiara- (typically also plays Marian) Francesca's sister still living in Italy. Age: 30 to 45

Michael- Francesca and Bud's son. Age: 16

Carolyn- Francesca and Bud's daughter. Age: 14

Marge- Francesca's neighbor, sassy and nosy. Age: 45 to 60 (Vocal range G3-C5)

Charlie- Marge's husband. Age: 50 to 70

Ensemble- Townspeople, Waitress, State Fair Patrons, Ginny ETC.

To submit an audition:

1. Please record a video of an appropriate song of your choice (16-32 bars). You may sing from the score if desired. Singing with a pre-recorded accompaniment track is perfectly fine- many are available free of charge on you-tube. Please make sure that your voice is audible in the video.
